Scope of Services
As an accredited comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation program, Texas Rehabilitation Hospital of Fort Worth (TRH) is capable of caring for a wide variety of diagnoses. These include, but are not limited to stroke, brain injury, spinal cord dysfunction, medically complex, trauma, orthopedic, neurological, amputation, and debility. TRH does not treat patients who require ventilator assistance. A determination is made by the admitting physician and admissions intake personnel, on a case-by-case basis, determine whether a patient’s illness or injury is appropriate for admission to inpatient rehab.
Texas Rehabilitation Hospital of Fort Worth is an inpatient setting. Patients stay overnight and have the full medical continuum available as needed. Inpatient rehabilitation is different from acute hospital care, as rehabilitation patients are more medically stable and receive 3 or more hours of therapy per day, at least 5 days per week. In some instances a patient may receive a lower level of therapy intensity daily to accommodate his/her individual needs. These patients receive 15 hours of therapy over a 7-day period. The focus of inpatient rehabilitation is wellness and achieving the highest level of independence possible to return to living in the community.
Hours of Services
Nursing and Physician services are available and provided 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Respiratory Therapy services are available throughout stay. Chaplain, Nutrition/Dietitian, Case Management, and Psychiatry services are regularly available throughout your stay. Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy services are available 7 days per week between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Speech Language Pathology services are available Monday through Saturday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and as needed on Sunday.
Frequency of Services
The frequency of any and all of the services listed above is dependent upon the specific individual needs of each patient. At a minimum, patients will be seen by their attending physician 3 days per week, by physical, occupational, and/or speech therapy 6 days per week, and by nursing daily. Other services are utilized on a time frame specified by the attending physician or as needs arise in each individual case.
Texas Rehabilitation Hospital of Fort Worth participates in many insurance plans including, but not limited to Medicare, United Healthcare, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Pacificare, Humana, and Secure Horizons. If your specific insurance plan is not listed, please contact our Admissions department to confirm the hospital’s participation. Texas Rehabilitation Hospital of Fort Worth is not a Medicaid provider.
Fees, deductibles, and out-of-pocket maximums differ for every patient, depending on specific insurance plans and program services provided, and amounts already applied to out-of-pocket costs in the current calendar year. Patients admitted to Texas Rehabilitation Hospital of Fort Worth are primarily referred from physicians at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital of Fort Worth and the Texas Health Resources network of hospitals, Medical City of Fort Worth, Baylor All Saints Medical Center of Fort Worth, USMD Hospital of Fort Worth, and John Peter Smith Hospital. In addition, a variety of patients are referred from various skilled nursing settings, surgery centers, and long-term acute care facilities. Referrals are also accepted from primary care physicians for patients currently residing at home, other acute-care hospitals, sub-acute care facilities, and long-term care facilities across the country.
Texas Rehabilitation Hospital of Fort Worth employs a variety of healthcare and other professionals to meet the individual needs of each rehab patient. Services available on-site include, but are not limited to, medical (physician) care, pharmacy, nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech language pathology, psychiatry, respiratory therapy, nutrition, and case management. Texas Rehabilitation Hospital of Fort Worth has the capacity to provide all of these services for its patient population. Other services provided on-site through contract arrangements include, but are not limited to, diagnostics / diagnostic imaging, pathology and laboratory, and chaplain services.
Intensity of Services
Patients at Texas Rehabilitation Hospital of Fort Worth are expected to participate in at least 3 hours of therapy per day, 5 days per week. On average, our patients participate in 3 to 4 hours of therapy each day Monday through Friday and a lesser amount of therapy on Saturday and Sunday. In certain well-documented cases, this intensive rehab therapy program might instead consist of at least 15 hours within a seven consecutive day period.
